Employee Free Choice Act
I offer this video which I found at Open Left:
Stlo7 wrote about the consequences of elections specifically related to the Employee Free Choice Act:
Co-sponsorship by Slaughter, Maffei and Massa. Excellent.
Chris Lee? Not so much.
For those living in the 29th - remember when Randy Kuhl discussed the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) terms of Communism (about 2:13 into the clip)? Recall that Randy once was for the EFCA act until he was against it. That, of course, was back in the day when Randy Kuhl had town hall meetings with constituents.
Yeah, elections do have consquences.

You should be ashamed of yourself for posting this video. The video is full of lies and fear mongering, much of which is already illegal. Anyone who supports a law that takes an individual’s right to a fair, secret ballot election and subjects them to harassment and violence, doesn’t deserve to call themselves an “American”.
This is a beautiful example of the Progressive doctrine that is willing to trample on freedom and liberty as long as it results in their warped view prevailing. You are so far down the road to fascism that you wouldn’t know your way back if your life depended on it.
“Anyone who supports a law that takes an individual’s right to a fair, secret ballot election and subjects them to harassment and violence, doesn’t deserve to call themselves an “American”.”
Mike, what are you talking about here? What law are you describing? I’m very confused by your post.
Let me echo Andrea’s sentiment. You can find a summary of the bill here.
Harassment and violence? Fascism? Huh?
It’s part of the “bad talk” to try to scare workers from uniting. Here’s the truth about the “secret ballot” (which is still protected):
Does the Employee Free Choice Act take away so-called secret ballot elections?
No. If one-third of workers want to have an NLRB election at their workplace, they can still ask the federal government to hold an election. The Employee Free Choice Act simply gives them another option—majority sign-up.
“Elections” may sound like the most democratic approach, but the NLRB process is nothing like democratic elections in our society—presidential elections, for example—because one side has all the power. The employer controls the voters’ paychecks and livelihood, has unlimited access to speak against the union in the workplace while restricting pro-union speech and has the freedom to intimidate and coerce the voters.
Mike you are right. No one should be subjected to harassment and violence when they are just trying to make a living. No one should have to put up with the constant lies and fear mongering. And those individual employers that stand in the way of secret ballot elections don’t deserve to call themselves Americans. We have gone a long way down the road of fascism and it is going to be difficult to get back.
Maybe if EFCA passes people will at least have a fighting chance against those that are willing to trample freedom and liberty.
Of course, there will still be people that don’t know what the hell they are talking about and don’t bother to read the bill to find out before they comment on it, but baby steps Mike, baby steps.
