Round up: Public Defender

Today’s D&C had another article on the Public Defender by Harry Bronson, (D-Rochester). Bronson’s essay shows that this really is coming down to class warfare. The needs of the disenfranchised will be circumvented in order to prop up cronyism.

We’ve told you about this injustice here, here and here. Stlo7 is all over this story. But it’s not just the folks from RT that are upset over this injustice, David Gantt was arrested protesting it (and of course, RT was there).

Here’s the calm before the storm.

[Update: btp here: There are rumors that the GOP may be trying to pack the seats early. Like phone-jamming the GOP has done in other places, it sounds like seat-jamming is planned here. So show up early, show up often.

Also they're setting up metal detectors there so it may take longer to get in. And, obviously, I don't have to tell you to leave your torches and pitchforks at home. (The torches would make it past the detectors, but Ghandi and MLK protested with just their will and their bodies. I suggest you do the same. :-)) If you're going:

Tonight, 2/12, 6 PM

410 County Office Building

39 W. Main St.

Rochester, NY

14614

Someone pointed out to me that Gantt and the two pastors are so passionate about this because they were involved in the effort 30 years ago-- the effort that turned the PD's office from an ineffective, crony-laden office into what it is today. They must hate to see the GOP tearing down all that to revert it back to the bad old days.]
