WAYAP: My dentist
This isn’t exactly a “Why Are You A Progressive?” story, but it’s related. My dentist is the best I’ve ever had. He’s friendly, knowledgable, articulate, and even better he has all the latest in dentistry gadgets. Including a little micro-camera that he uses to show you what’s going on, right now, inside your mouth. His energy is infectious.
I’m getting better at easing folks into discussions of politics, and asked him who he liked so far for prez in 2008. “I like that Barama guy.” “You mean Barack Obama?” “Yeah, that’s the one.”
He told me he’s a Republican but votes Democratic just about every time. “Tell me that story, that sounds interesting, ” I said in between instrument changes. “Well, I’m a Republican because my grandfather was a Republican, and I vote Democratic because I agree with them on all the social issues. I probably should change my registration, huh?”
I couldn’t follow up with all the questions that popped into my head (it was a dentist appointment, for pete’s sake), but I found out he actually knew what Clean Money Clean Elections was and was a fan of it. Good stuff.
He would make a great candidate. Anyone in Victor reading this?
So, would it be out of line for me to bring him a registration change form next appointment?

I would probably engage him in the conversation a little bit more before bringing him a change of registration form, but I relaize that as you said it really is quite difficult being a dentist appointment (have I ever mentioned that I really really hate dentist appointments?)
Well,
This all depends on the relationship you have with the dentist.
Next appointment I’d ask him and if he said sure, then I’d give him a card. I’d even offer to put a stamp on it for him if he filled it out.
it is never to late to register people or help them change their registration if they want to change it.
