Reynolds free-fall?
So, the Buffalo News commissioned Zogby to do a poll on the Reynolds/Davis race in NY-26, and the results aren’t pretty– for Reynolds:

Incumbent Republican’s connection to Foley sex scandal has given his opponent a lead of 48% to 33%
Over at poll-interpreters extraordinaire, MyDD’s Jonathan Singer wants folks to take this poll with a grain of salt but even if you use half the shaker that’s not good territory for Reynolds to be in this close to an election. According to the article, some Republicans are unfazed by what happened, or at least fazed but unmoved to vote Dem. On the other hand:
…another Republican, Ed Zawadzki of Williamsville, said he will cast his vote for Davis. He sees many good qualities in Reynolds but says he “messed up” on the Foley matter.
“He should have followed up with Hastert,” he said, referring to Reynolds’ reports last spring to House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert about concerns over Foley. “He put it in Hastert’s lap and let it go.”
A retired tool-and-die maker who is 73, Zawadzki said Reynolds’ efforts have been too centered around the party, while Davis’ emphasis on preserving American jobs interests him.
And then there’s Mary Wukman, 80, a Republican from Akron. She doesn’t know for whom she will vote.
“I’m so sick of it all. Why couldn’t he follow up?” she asked of Reynolds. “They’re like 2-year-olds down there in Washington. Nobody ever talks about anything serious.”
Another reason why I love seniors. They’ll call a spade a spade, and they’ve been around long enough to not care what anyone thinks. My crabby, outspoken grandfather used to say, “I don’t care what they say on the TV. All I know is, when Democrats are in control, I get mine.”
