Tale of two News organizations
Staying with the Tea Party theme today -
The D&C wrote this editorial about taking tea par-tea-rs seriously. I don’t agree with the editorial on the whole, I do believe that our elected officials should take all voters seriously. But as if there was a bit of justification or rationalization going on. Start with the headline:
Tea Partiers want to take back control of their country
Um, who decided that is was their country? I’m thinking we all have to live here and make the best of what we have right?
Tea Party rallies in Rochester and around the country on Thursday should not be viewed as gatherings of a fringe element or a group of loonies.
…
Thankfully, there was no evidence of racism at the rally in signs or speeches, which has been an issue at some national gatherings.
Meanwhile WXXI sent someone and they write.
Several hundred people spent their lunch hour behind the federal building. There were signs calling for lower taxes, spending cuts, and an end to the Federal Reserve; others questioned Barack Obama’s place of birth and likened the president to Adolf Hitler.
…
The crowd cheered when speakers criticized the belief in global warming and called for upstate New York to become the 51st state.
OK - so KKK friendly language wasn’t present but the D&C editorial board missed the Nazi stuff? The birther stuff?
Come on -

The d and c is getting lamer by the minute.
Since the tea party is to an extent corporate driven There is little doubt why the corporate centrist Gannett would jump on it. It’s an easy way to apply pressure to reign in reformist goals. Lame lame lame,
When citizens in local towns go to meetings and speak up they are not even covered by the D and C. Or when they try to get the local press to cover their issues they are brushed aside as rabble.
Many of the tea baggers have pretty confused ideas. They hate the state but want to keep social security and medicare. They are all for big expensive imperial wars, at least I’m sure a lot are, and don’t connect how the Iraq war (and now our Afghan adventure) are the biggest contributors to the debt.
War protesters or those standing up for the least well off are apparently well unamerican.
All that crap on the statue of liberty — unamerican (it had to come from the french or something — right)
My first post ever to RT. I had to answer to this accusation:
Meanwhile WXXI sent someone and they write.
The reporter from WXXI must have imagined the Hitler comparision because it didn’t happen. The entire Tea party is documented on RochesterConservative.com:
2010 Tax Day Rochester Tea Party
Every speech was recorded and posted in my report and pics of a good many of the signs are also posted and there’s not a single reference to Hitler.
Oh, BTW, I hereby invoke Godwins Law, invalidating this entire post, stlo7!
Just kidding, but not really. Your stereotyping the Rochester Tea Party Movement as racist, redneck simpletons is getting real old and it’s a lie.

Hey man, are you going to approve this or not?
I know it’s your blog, but you posted false information and I’m calling you on it!
RV
There were no references to place of birth or Adolf Hitler. Many of us would love to do away with SS and Medicare. Many of us are against the wars. You should have sent someone so you can speak first hand on what happened. Do you believe WXXI over the D&C because it suits you?
Um, the post was titled tale of two news organizations… I simply say was both “reported” although technically the D&C op-ed wasn’t a news report but rather an opinion.
“OK - so KKK friendly language wasn’t present but the D&C editorial board missed the Nazi stuff? The birther stuff?
Come on -”
I wondered where all the ignorant fat old white people were in Rochester. Thanks to rochester_veteran, at least now we have photographic evidence that they exist. Someone should put a mating pair in the zoo before they become extinct.
It’s intelligent people like yourself that make Rochester so proud!

Do you understand how bigoted and ignorant you’re making RochesterTurning look by posting crap like this?
The eyes of the Tea Party Movement are upon you!
Thanks for providing the fodder…
