What happens to those Tee-Shirts with the wrong “champ” on them?
Come on you’ve seen it- the end of the Superbowl and suddenly tee-shirts emblazoned with the winning team’s name suddenly appear. EVERYONE is wearing them. Well, you know they made two sets - one for each team - what happens to the other set?
Well, we know have our answer - Somewhere in Haiti a kid is wearing a Superbowl “champ” Colts tee-shirt and some other kid is Nicaragua has a shirt that says the New England Patriots are 19-0.
“For years, World Vision has helped us to ensure that no NFL apparel goes to waste,” said David Krichavsky, the NFL director of community relations. “With the enormous needs in Haiti and World Vision’s long-term presence there, we know that these goods will go to very good use.”
Last year, Cardinals gear was donated in El Salvador. In 2008, the Patriots’ apparel from Super Bowl XLII, with “19-0″ emblazoned to mark their would-be perfect season, was donated in Nicaragua.
I’ve often wondered if they were actually donated or simply destroyed to “protect” the NFL brand. Glad they are being used which probably protects the brand even more.
