Cut Parole Board members - a Good idea from Gov Paterson

Well, maybe we should look at these kinds of jobs.  Via the D&C, the parole board consists of a lot of people in full time positions who don’t necessarily work full time hours.  So, 100K a year for a politically appointed part time job -seems a bit excessive don’t you think?

ALBANY — The state Parole Board — whose members make $101,600 for the politically appointed posts — would be cut from 19 members to 13 members under a proposal by Gov. David Paterson.

Paterson wants to cut the board and save the state more than $600,000 a year because the number of hearings that Parole Board members attended has plummeted 32 percent, from 36,046 in 1995 to 24,662 in 2008.

But despite the decreased workload, their salaries and benefits haven’t changed.
