Protest outside Morelle’s office -
Ut oh - via a labor email I just received there is a protest organized by the Rochester Teachers Union.
Joe Morelle represents Irondequoit and Brighton and just a sliver of the city. He wants to get rid of the city school board, but yet he is not seeking to get rid of the Irondequoit school boards (East & West). He receives support from unions, yet he has turned his back on our concerns. What did he get from Bob Duffy that he has taken such an interest in supporting him in his bid to remove voting rights from city residents?
What: Join us in protest of Joe Morelle’s actions by picketing
the Assemblyman’s office tonight!When: Thursday, January 21, 2010 - 4pm to 6pm
Where: Assemblyman Morelle’s Office, 1945 East Ridge Road,
Rochester, NY
This is the first protest I’ve ever have heard about in front of Assemblyman Joe Morelle’s office. I wonder if there is a similar protest in front of David Gantt’s office (the Assemblyman who said that he would introduce legislation at the end of the month if Gov Paterson didn’t.)
by the way - his seat and EVERY OTHER state level seat is up in November.
I mean the message says that Morelle hasn’t called for Irondequoit school boards to be abolished as justification for a protest? I would say that city schools and Irondequoit have different records.
As I’ve said before the group that demonstrates and/or is perceived as having a mentality of ‘this is about the kids and not themselves’ will ultimately win this argument.
Also - I haven’t really taken a position on this as of yet so keep your shilling for the Mayor or School board comments to yourself.

I just saw a story on this on the news.
Joe came off just as closed toward the public as our republican friends,
He represents all the people protesters are a small group
In truth he represents the clique
In all seriousness what is the process for easing him out,
The party is in tatters we need a change
Either that or its tine to move on to form a new party
