Check out this post over at Huffpo.  It details the list of campaign promises  by candidate Obama.  In the end, the same polices he ripped McCain and Clinton for are part of this health Care bill as are the same insider dealings with industry.

Now save for the moment the thoughts of something is better than nothing which is why we should pass the Senate Health Care bill (the House is going to accede to the Senate Bill).  Kinda hard not to be disappointed when you are reduced to an applause line.

“If a mandate was the solution, we could try that to solve homelessness by mandating everybody buy a house,”

“We will break the stranglehold that a few big drug and insurance companies have on the health care market….It’s become clear that some of these companies are dramatically overcharging Americans for what they offer…. We’re not going to get change unless we can overcome the resistance the drug companies, the insurance companies, the HMOs, those who are making a major profit from the system currently.”

…

“The pharmaceutical industry wrote into the prescription drug plan that Medicare could not negotiate with drug companies. And you know what? The chairman of the committee, who pushed the law through went to work for the pharmaceutical industry making two million dollars a year,” Obama said. “That’s an example of the same old game playing in Washington. You know I don’t want to learn how to play the game better, I want to put an end to the game playing.”

So, when exactly does later come?  I wrote earlier the President reaffirmed his support for drug importation.  (Um, it isn’t that hard, we have drugs made in other countries for use in the US so we should be able to have drugs made here - used here)

In the end, we will have a Health Care bill, declare success, tout it at the State of the Union, pat our collective selves on the back - while the rest of us wonder when will “later” come?

oh, one more thing - Candidate Obama campaigned for a Public option too…
