Lost Money: Monroe County Budget issues

Ladkiddo told you about the budget hearing last night, the D&C was there and filed this report.

Members of the Democratic caucus asked why rent payments from Frontier Field, which haven’t been collected since 2002, are continuing to be budgeted, and asked about cost impacts from union contracts still under negotiation.

Legislator Paul Haney, D-Rochester, asked about the uncollected rent payments from Frontier Field, which total $26 million. A new payment of $1.6 million is called for in 2010.

Um, We are just discovering this now? Gee, imagine if we actually discussed the budget BEFORE an election.

The County’s response?

County Director of Finance Scott Adair said if the rent isn’t budgeted, there is no basis to collect it.

Well, gosh, I guess even if it is in the budget it isn’t collected.

How is it that rent hasn’t been collected in 7 years?

What I do know is that if I fail to pay my rent, I don’t expect to live in that house for very long

In the end, SOMEONE is paying the Frontier rent and guess who?  YOU.
