Democratic Senate Wannabes Supporting Rudy’s Run?

It’s looking like Rudy’s gonna make that senate run, although the official announcement has not, yet, been made.  Like any astute politician, he’s going where the pickins are easiest.  Recent polls have indicated that Giuliani would win in a race against Kirsten Gillibrand and interestingly enough, he could find some covert support in the form of some NYS Democrats (per the New York Observer):

One reason that Steve Israel, Carolyn Maloney, Jerry Nadler and every other New York Democrat who yearns to serve in the U.S. Senate someday may be particularly thankful next Thursday: Rudy Giuliani and his apparent readiness to challenge Kirsten Gillibrand next year.

[snip]

….as they surely realize, their hopes of ever making it to the Senate will largely depend on Giuliani knocking off Gillibrand. If he does, the Democratic nomination for 2012 (when Gillibrand’s seat will be up for a full term) will be wide open and they’ll all be free to run. There’ll be no pesky, heavy-handed White House running interference for an appointed incumbent, as is the case now.

Politics.  It’s a nasty game.

Well, let’s see about that. Giuliani is known to not know that Monroe, NY ain’t in the County of Monroe, NY. So I doubt that he will win against Gillibrand, or even whether he actually will run. i wonder how many “conservatives” will look for a challenger, a la Hoffman. Come to think of it, Hoffman will probably be available for a Senate run, once he is officially declared the loser of NY-23.

If Giuliani runs for the senate I will make it my personal mission to destroy his 9/11-peddling ass, and based on his previous performance in the GOP primaries, it might not be all that hard. Either way, it’s time for Cuomo to get into the governor’s race.
