I get knocked down, but I get up again
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009: Life sucks to be a Democrat in Monroe County and many other counties around the country. Life also sucks to be a member of the LGBT community because of the referendum, Maine 1 that gets passed by a small margin. But does the LGBT community roll over in submission, bemoaning that vote and accepting that as the current zeitgeist of the country?
Nope.
Next day, in front of the Federal Building in DT Rochester, 35 people with signs. Students, LGBTs, veterans and clergy, protesting that vote and mobilizing people for a trip to Albany to push for the same sex marriage bill which will be voted on at the same time as the New York State Budget.
Governor Paterson has declared Nov 10th as an extraordinary legislative session.Paterson issued a special proclamation Thursday announcing the special session would convene on November 10 at noon. He said the legislature would take up consideration of the Governor’s $5.2 billion “Deficit Reduction Plan” - a proposal which promises steep cuts in government spending - along with several other items including the same-sex “marriage” bill already passed by the Assembly.
It will be an uphill battle, but this can not be allowed to forestall the passage of a vote for civil rights.
It’s time.

It is time. Well said.
Check out this post and the links with in. Apparently OFA in Maine was pushed, asked to help in the NJ governor’s race. Apparently the DNC didn’t bother urging OFAers to help with the Maine Proposition.
Given all the missteps by the Obama Administraiton with the LBGT community seems like a missed opportunity.
