Monroe County Republicans caught in unfair campaign practices

From the MPNnow .  Local Republicans have sent out mailers which assume a relationship that doesn’t exist and claim actions that have not occurred:

Rochester, N.Y. —

On Wednesday, the Fair Election Practices Committee ruled the Monroe County Republican Party violated the Fair Campaign Pledge when it sent out a campaign flyer misrepresenting Democratic candidates.

The committee ruled that the flyer incorrectly associated a candidate with a vote previously cast by someone else, and therefore was an unfair violation of the Fair Campaign Pledge.

As a result, three Republican candidates for the Monroe County Legislature are required to publicly issue a written repudiation of the flyer they sent.

It would appear that our local Republicans continue to take pages from the National Republicans’ play- books.  Make disingenuous statements which inspire fear, repeat them over and over and they become accepted fact.

In addition, the Monroe County Democratic Committee sent a letter to the Fair Election Practices Committee requesting five other candidates also make the same public repudiation for identical mailings sent in their districts.

Desperation.  The Republicans see their majority slipping away in the county legislature.

Desperation=desperate acts.

    Good bye majority leader Quatro, hello Mr. Veto, meet Maggie Brooks. Brooks, in her arrogance dumped the only guy who could have saved the GOP from loosing majority.Not saying he would have, but would have had a better chance than Chairman Bill. All because Jim Smith wanted the power of behind the scenes GOP leader, he convinced her to take Steve out. I guess the laugh is on Smith. He goes to the FBI to protect Maggie from Robutrad, and sure enough DeLause, Connard, and the other puppet masters of the new GOP threw him on the sword.

    What’s more telling is that they felt the need to make stuff up. Does that mean that they don’t have anything REAL on their opponents?

    From the same D&C article:

    Reilich said he modeled the postcard on Democratic mailings and previous rulings by the committee. “It’s kind of like trying to follow a moving target,” he said.
