New Democratic State Chairman elected in New York

Jay Jacobs is nominated and unanimously elected to replace June O’Neil as Democratic State Chair.

Jacobs pledged to:

- Build up the resources and organization of the State Party.
- Make the State Party the campaign resource for Democratic candidates in New York State.
- Provide an active voice in the issues & policies of the day.
- Devise a working structure with the 62 County Chairs as its foundation, and
- Create, once and for all, an Institutional Party Office that endures.

State Democratic Party chairwoman June O’Neill is stepping down to recuperate from hip surgery. The governor has asked her to serve in the party’s No. 2 post.

I have never met June O’Neill, nor have I heard her speak. But, our very own stlo7 has and, as I recall, he had nothing but accolades to report about her accomplishments and public speaking prowess.
