Beware of the misinformed
Beware of health care reform legislation- that is the title of an opinion piece at stargazzette.com.
If U.S. Rep. Eric Massa of Corning votes in favor of the health care bill, no matter how many changes they make, he should not be voted for ever again.
This bill is nothing more than a government takeover of people’s lives. There are many ways they can cut health care costs. They can start by catching Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, welfare and food stamp cheaters. They can stop all the crazy lawsuits by setting standards as to how much is paid in medical law suits. They can save hundreds of millions of dollars.
There so many things in the bill that people should be wary of, such as the potential for government to make decisions about your health care instead of you and you doctor. There are many more reasons this bill should not pass.
Name one program the government has run successfully (Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, post office). They are all in big financial trouble. Call Massa and all of our Washington representatives from New York and tell them vote no or get voted out of office in their next election. The AARP needs to wake up and stop being a yes man for the Democrats.
Ok, I’ll name 4 of them to start: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, post office. Is this person really suggesting we’d be better off without these programs? Sure, there are flaws in every program. Does that mean that we should be throwing out the baby with the bathwater?
How about public education? Does he think we should do away with that institution too? Should we all quit our jobs and home school our children?
The DOD? Maybe Blackwater should be taking over that job?
Just a thought….

Poor Mike, for whom hating America has become a full time obession…
It is a strange and delusional world you live in where you classify the desire for the best for everyone as hating America. You are a one trick pony when it comes to comments, all ad hominem attacks with no substance. You are proof that critical thinking should be a required subject for all students.
There is no justification for praising government programs that cause ever-increasing deficits, one of which will ultimately be responsible for the total economic collapse of America according to the Government Accounting Office.
I suggest you read Tocqueville’s “Democray in America” to understand the error in your self-interest approach to America.
Oh wait, I’m sorry. You poor child, I do apologize, at times I forget that you suffer from myopia. It must be difficult to go through life at this stage with no understanding of what life is like for your fellow Americans beyond the scope of your personal experiences. I try and remember your lack of sense of history or perspective, (remember when you got our history all backwards or the time you compared our economy to the Soviet Unions?).
Indeed, why would America want a program like Social Security that cares for orphans and the disabled, and the elderly? You’re right MikeWNT, why would anyone praise a program that helps ‘those’. They’re a drain on society Silly us.
When you gat a chance go to the library and pick up a book and read what it was like for Americans before Social Security, and Medicare and Medicaid.
But be prepared, facts might cause some cognitive dissonance with your preconceived belief that everything America does is evil…
