Suspended Greece Cop - Merritt Rahn knew…
More information is coming to light about suspended and now charged Greece police officer Sgt. Robert P. Trowbridge, As we said yesterday he is charged with falsifying references to enable the hiring of one Gary Pignato. Yeah that one.
My question is simply this - In the closed circle of local law enforcement - how do people now know?
Sgt. Robert P. Trowbridge was arrested Tuesday and charged with a felony count of offering a false instrument for filing. He allegedly faked statements from various law enforcement officials — including Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy, and former Rochester deputy chiefs Vincent Faggiano and James Sheppard — which he then included in a 2002 pre-employment screening package for former Greece Police Officer Gary Pignato. Pignato, convicted on charges of coercing a woman into sex, is now in prison.
[snip]
According to court documents, Trowbridge “… stated that this action was done at the direction of and with the knowledge of then-Chief Merritt Rahn.”
The article has more - including the criminal complaint, a letter from the Rochester Police Department outlining internal charges against ex-cop Pignato from way back in 1996.
Of course Greece Supervisor John Auberger said this
“If an accurate background had been provided, Mr. Pignato would not have been hired”
Yeah - but the underlying question is why would Pignato be hired in the first place - why were decisions made to over look all the red flags that should have been evident if ANYONE opened their eyes.
Can’t wait for that public hearing…

I read the original criminal complaint filed by Duffy online. it would be bad enough if Merritt Rahn gave the order but somehow I think the orders came from higher up. It seems incomprehensible that Jack Auberger did not carry out any due diligence and read this report or talk to Duffy. Either he is a complete incompetent or is dishonest.
To which one would have to say to Merritt Rahn, “You don’t know Jack!”
It’s Auberger and his board of thieves. All of this occurred in 2002, the same window that the Assessor Charles Schwab was robbing the taxpayers blind on the Kodak Scandal. And of course, then like now, Auberger knew nothing.
Payback is a real switch.
