Red Light Cameras in City move forward
The city is taking the next step in pursuing red-light cameras. | The Rochester Police Department is seeking requests for proposals from surveillance system vendors this month. The RFP’s will help the police department make recommendations to City Council on uses for the cameras
Does City Council support cameras?
“I’m not even sure that there’s broad support within Council for purchasing the cameras,” says City Council member Carolee Conklin. “But I have no problem with them finding out how much it will cost. The figures are more of a management tool for now.”
Well, we will see, somehow I think this is a done deal.
They originally passed a resolution that got the ball rolling - Even though Mayor Duffy backed away from revenue claims - once they are installed it will be interesting to see (interesting like when an independent auditor conducts an audit) how much revenue was generated and more importantly if traffic statistics were affected.
