More from the HCAN rally - Are you getting what you want?
It has been a couple of weeks since the big HCAN rally on June 25 in D.C. urging Congress to support a “Public Option.” I’ve written about my experiences, Jackie, Laim, Adrian and signs. We have even seen Senator Schumer shouted down and there is still some more interesting tidbits to see the light of the Internet.
Now meet meet Bob from Tennessee. He was part of the Communications Workers of America contingent that came to the HCAN rally. I met Bob as I was walking around the rally chatting with folks - Bob, Bobbi and a few others who were just as passionate about reform as I was.
I’ve delayed writing about Bob because I wanted to see how things developed between the rally and a now. Specifically between what people were demanding then and how things are looking now. So listen to Bob for a few minutes.

Contrast what Bob wants and what Senator Schumer - our point man on the Public Option - is talking about delivering.
- Choice delayed 2012 is the first chance for the uninsured to gain access to the Public Option
- A whopping $10 billion to support/enable the Public Option
- Mandated coverage.
That is why is it absolutely critical to define the public option and ensure the we hold our Representatives accountable. Remember when Senator Schumer was shouted down? In light of these developments it seems to make sense doesn’t in.
A toothless Public option is a loss all the way around.
What to do? Glad you asked - Medicare for all - extend it to everyone so they can opt in. Make that the Public Option. Give people a choice.
