GOP Coup d’etat

Malcolm Smith fired off this statement:

“This was an illegal and unlawful attempt to gain control of the Senate and reverse the will of the people who voted for a Democratic Majority. Nothing has changed, Senator Malcolm A. Smith remains the duly elected Temporary President and Majority Leader. The real Senate Majority is anxious to get back to governing, and will take immediate steps to get us back to work.”

Unfortunately for us, there was nothing illegal about what happened…

UPDATE: … or maybe it was illegal, as stlo7 points out in the comments.

One Response to “GOP Coup d’etat”

  1. stlo7 says:

Senator Malcolm Smith is holding a press conference right now saying that the vote to install a GOP leader occurred AFTER the session was adjourned. If so that makes the vote illegal. Of course, that means that we still have a a gang of 2 that has to be dealt with because the now gang of two would still support a GOP majority when the session is called back into session.

Oh the intense backroom negotiations going on right now.

    One thing for sure

If Smith is correct - NYS government comes to a standstill.
