Feds Cracking Down on H1B Visa Fraud

For a tech-heavy area like Rochester, this is a big deal.  The discussion in the comments is the most interesting part, though.

It’s time to stop replacing American tech workers with indentured servants from India, China, etc.

Maybe we should start creating legal and financial incentives for companies to import low-paid MBAs, lawyers, and politicians, instead of just tech.  Wonder if that would make Congress sit up and take notice.

I am very pleased with the crackdown. I only hope that it’s not just scratching the surface for show. I remember being told in college that I was foolish for being a computer science major with a concentration in programming. They would say that all of the programming jobs are being exported to India or workers are being imported from abroad. It’s complete nonsense.
I have dealt with Indian programmers here on H1b visas and many of them are substandard. It seems that many of them have very little experience with the technology in question. I have been to sites where months of their work on a project had to be essentially thrown away and the hiring companies had to pay double in the end. Body shops are giving a bad name to our art. Stop them now!
