Tom Reynolds now a Lobbyist

He isn’t a lawyer, but Tom Reynolds is joining the Nixon Peabody law firm. He won’t be doing legal work anyway. He’s part of the firm’s newly-formed “Government Relations and Public Policy practice.” Translation: Lobbying.

Former area Congressional representative Thomas Reynolds has joined Nixon Peabody LLP as a member of a newly formed Government Relations and Public Policy practice, the law firm said Wednesday.
A non-lawyer, the Clarence Republican is joining Nixon Peabody with the title of senior strategic policy advisor. He brings with him his longtime aide and former chief of staff, Sally Vastola. Both plan to work with attorneys across Nixon Peabody’s 17 offices but are to be primarily based in Washington, D.C., and Buffalo, Reynolds said. He and Vastola had been approached by the law firm several months ago and have been working with several of its attorneys since then to prepare the way for the new practice group, he added.
“As a state legislator and a member of Congress, I have of course been acquainted with many of Nixon Peabody’s partners in Rochester and Buffalo and have always thought of it as great law firm,” Reynolds said. “When they approached me and my former chief of staff Sally Vastola about forming this new government we were both very excited.”

Sally Vastola? Was she one of the Reynolds staffers who got one of those big goodbye bonuses with taxpayer money in December? Actually, it appears not. That’s a pleasant surprise.
