Action Alert - Call your Town Supervisor about Time Warner Internet Caps
A couple of things here -
The Time Warner execs, per info received at stopthecap.com, are holding a closed door meeting with Town Supervisors to discuss their proposed Internet usage cap. Per Dampier of stopthecap
I have received direct input that many town and village officials are not hearing from constituents about Time Warner Internet Rationing, and are woefully under-informed about this issue. Therefore, it is OUR responsibility to help inform, educate, and directly lobby them with our firm opposition to usage caps of any kind, and the complete lack of proven justification for their usage cap experiment, its tiers, and pricing.
Accepting that comment at face value - here is the deal.
Read this post and some of the information contained to call or write your local Town Supervisor. Contact information for all the Supervisors is at the bottom of the post. Ask them about the proposed caps, what they know and so on.
It is an election year after all.
Finally - the Internet continues to amaze me. Last night I received an email about 6:00 pm regarding the need to identify contact information for Town Supervisors. Shortly thereafter, a Post went up on stopthecap.com essentially asking for people to supply contact information in the comments of that post. Almost immediately comments flooded that post with the information. This morning that information has been consolidated and converted into the action alert post I reference above.
Point being - in this case, the Internet is being used to share information and mobilize people. I couldn’t help but think about all those watchdog or sunshine websites. How does this affect people’s ability to access that information? Do we want an informed population? Sure -
Call your Supervisor.

Calling Auberger!!! What a hoot.
There was just an article in the Greece Post showing how inaccessible he is.
Good luck with that
I just had a nice conversation with my town supervisor, Ian McNabb in Mendon. I also sent him 2 emails directing him to this site and stopthecap.com and he promised to check it out. I have the feeling that people have not been contacting them (supervisors) enough about this issue. Ian said he had received a flurry of emails last week, but we have to keep up the pressure. We know how coercive company reps can be (see Formula for disaster)

The Penfield Town Board is holding a community discussion tonight (4/14) from 7-9pm at the Browncroft Community Church, 2530 Browncroft Blvd regarding Time Warner’s ill-conceived plans. Stop on by!
I’m actually at a point where I really dislike the internet. I’m just sick of it. I joined Facebook, now I hate it. But on the bright side, I no longer even turn my computer on every day. Lately it’s been on no more than every other day. And I’m not checking email every time I’m online. I’m finding I like the world a whole lot better without so much internet.
For the first time in about 5 years, I actually write letters to friends every weekend–the pen and paper kind.
