Eric Massa Blasts Time Warner on Internet Caps
Congressman Massa is very focused and ramping up to be very deeply involved in leading this national issue opposing Internet Caps. Watch this 4m 30s clip of Congressman Massa’s opening statement from the Henrietta town hall meeting held April 10, 2009.
We already know he is drafting legislation but listen for these phrases: “the full force of my incumbency”, “ill-thought out plan by Time Warner”, “Job Killing initiative” -
Absolutely worth 4 minutes and 30 seconds of your time.
Massa makes very good points and cuts to what is the crux of the matter as he rips the stated reason from Time Warner - Internet hogs who download more than their fair share of information. Massa counters with examples of farmers downloading satellite pics of their farms, Doctors sharing medical imagery and all the rest that the Internet has to offer.
He asks who has set the limit on information. Who decides?
Let’s not forget that as Time Warner is proposing download caps they will receive a portion of $9 billion to build out broadband in rural areas. The tiered billing scheme by Time Warner is simply tax on information and Time Warner is deciding who gets to get what by some pricing scheme.
I’ll have more clips when I make some time but this one will do for now.
