Leading the charge against Time Warner-that’s my congressman!

Visited Eric Massa’s Townhall Meeting last night in Henrietta.  He spoke at length (I know, big surprise!) and did his best to answer everyone’s questions.  We have some footage and will get it up later.

What I want everyone to be aware of is his David vs Goliath stance on Time Warner’s trial of rate increases in Rochester.  This is a freshman member of congress.  He’s taking on a media giant for the protection of his constituency and the safety and security of the country.  He’s being told by other members of congress that this could cost him his re-election.  He’s doing it anyway.  This is what we elected him for.

I’m told that the Town Hall, the night before in Pittsford was a bit dicey. (Sorry I missed it)  The TW reps were there and the constituents were angry.  I know that they (TW) informed Massa’s people that they would not be back for the Henrietta meeting.

Well, Eric is doing his part.  We have to do ours.  It’s time to spread the word across this great nation.  We have the means to do it right here at our finger tips.  If you’re reading this, you have the power to make a difference.  Hitting us right where we live, this is a new Netroots movement.

Move!

Hearing all the comments about the cap at the Town Hall meeting was eye opening. There were a lot of very savvy techies from RIT and other places there. They brought up issues that might not seem related at first glance. Such as security. I think it shows that we all need to be better educated on this. Massa said he does too. To that end he will be putting together a public forum devoted to this subject to explore the many unintended (or intended) consequences of this move by TW.

Once I stop laughing at the over the top drama packed in to that statement, perhaps I will return with something else to say. In the mean time I will make sure my gun turrets are well stocked in case that evil Time Warner is planning an attack.

Well, I screamed at TW for their sleazy practices and cancelled my TW cable and RoadRunner service years ago, and never looked back. Life is good with the few broadcast TV channels I get off the air, thanks to the DTV box that makes my old rabbit ears antenna work even better! And it’s good for the family too. Except for the little hiccup with Frontier last year, I have been happy with them.

Anyway, kudos to Eric for keep the pressure on TW. I am glad I was able to vote for him last year and will again the next time around!
