Republicans call budget process “Secretive”

Found this on the D&C…the sound you hear is me slamming my head against the wall!!!

Republicans call budget process the “most secretive” ever

Posted by Cara Matthews • March 24, 2009 • 4:25 pm

Republican leaders, who hold the minority in the Assembly and Senate, are criticizing the state budget process, saying the Democratic governor and heads of Legislature are “conducting the most secretive budget process in history.” Lawmakers received a proposal from Gov. David Paterson more than three months ago and are supposed to pass a budget by April 1, the start of the 2009-10 fiscal year. Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, D-Manhattan, and Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith, D-Queens, and their staff have been in talks with the Paterson administration on the spending plan.

Surely you’re not suggesting the process was “open”, are you?

Its pretty impressive, though. We are in the middle of what some have called the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes and our Democrat friends in Albany actually give us a budget that increases spending!

Boy, are we lucky you progressives got rid of the GOP.

    John:

People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

The republicans in state government and locally in Greece, Gates and our west side suburbs are not exactly models of openness. If your concern was openness in government and not scoring political points you might find a more receptive audience

The whole public access fiasco illustrates that the local level of government lacks all public input and transparency. Try to get through to Greece supervisor John Auberger if you are not another party hack. Good luck there

BTW while you are here, I noticed you joined another conservative blog as a poster. Then I got wind of a blog on a Dave Garretson blog showing that Greece Republicans took pictures of the residence of Educable’’s Brian Caterino — posted on that same conservative blog — showing –heaven help us– democratic campaign signs. The post implies this was some sort of illegal act or some evidence of “guilt” (what kind of guilt is not clear)

I guess the constitution got lost in translation. Is it currently illegal or immoral to support a democrat?
