Wednesday Wingnut Watch - Update
Hoards of wingnuts thronged to their annual wingnut convention, also known as C-PAC. One and all were excited to hear wisdom from their leader, Der Spieler, also known as Rush Limbaugh. Here Rush explains how liberals and the “Democrat Party” are “destroying America from within.”
And, if you still can’t get enough of Rush’s “I want President Obama to fail” bit, go here to see the latest version, also from C-PAC.
Message from C-PAC: “Yes, we really are this out of touch with the rest of America.” From the 2009 C-PAC Straw Poll:
Do you approve or disapprove of the job that Barack Obama is doing as President?
Approve: 4%
Disapprove: 95%
Another group in need of a reality check: the GOP Governors who LOVED Bobby Jindal’s response to President Obama’s speech. A bad case of GOP Guv Luv. They’re so smitten, they’re using it as a fundraiser.
Hey, do you remember our former Republican Senator, Alphonse D’Amato? Look what he’s up to lately.

“This is the time to join and have your voice be heard. Show them that the little guy, each one of us, if we join together, can be a powerful force. Let’s use the Internet to communicate with our members of Congress as voters and as American citizens to say that we feel they’ve gone too far…”
Quote from Al D’Amato at the website of Poker Players Alliance, on the topic of online gambling. He is a paid lobbyist for the group and also their Chairman.

Update:
btp here. Wingnuts are everywhere– if you see or hear a good example locally, say in the D&C letters to the editor (or even the juicier, nuttier stuff in the D&C Chat Rooms), please send it along to sbr. Other sources might be RochesterWatch, Bob Lonsberry, or even some of the wacky folks that call into local radio shows like the 1370 Connection on WXXI.
I mean, why waste all that entertainment value? Let’s put it to good use right here on Wingnut Wednesday!

What, no mention of the disdain, ridicule, and scorn from Wonkette, Democratic Underground, and Huffington Post, just to name a few directed at radio legend Paul Harvey upon his passing last week?
For example; “He was a douchebag, and I never speak ill of the dead, but I make exceptions with a–holes that celebrate one of the worst chapters of this nation’s history.”
That author comes across as pretty wingnutty to me.
Hey Dood, welcome back, man. Were you out of town last week?
No, why?
Probably b/c last week’s right wing nut watch was the only one you didn’t reply to with example of left wing nut examples
Oh. I don’t read RT with regularity. It just occurs to me from time to time to see what the latest leftward leaning local perspective on issues is.
Today I dropped by wondering if there’d be any mention of Brother Wease’s take on Renaissance Square this AM (I caught a few minutes of his show while getting the tires rotated on my truck) as it seems to be a source of much consternation here and he is THE Voice of local Progressive ideas on the radio based on comments I’ve read here.
From what I could tell he was interviewing one of the developers involved and is very much in favor of the idea. During the 10 minutes or so I heard he was strongly advocating for it while debating some callers on the air. That seems to be in stark contrast to most of what I’ve read at RT.
Joe Conason at The New York Observer had this to say regarding Mt. Rushmoron (My add-couldn’t resist):
Tried responding to this. It doesn’t appear, even several hours later, yet when I try resending the saved post I get a; “this looks like a duplicate” message that also will not post. Any ideas?
Oh sure, this pops right up. Hello Gracey.
Let’s try a much shorter version of what I wanted to post earlier.
I don’t read RT with any regularity, it just occurs to me every once in a while to see what’s new.
Stopped by today out of curiousity because I happened to catch 10 minutes of Brother Wease this AM while getting my truck tires rotated. He was strongly advocating for the Renaissance Square Project on the air and wondered if there would be a response to that since I get the impression reading the posts here you’re mostly against the idea while at the same time large supporters of his politics and ideas, especially at a local level.
Dood, you gotta around more, we need you, man! I don’t listen to Wease, so your comment that he’s pro-Ren Square was news to me. From what I understand, he and I are generally in the same polticial camp, but not on this one.
Truck tires, huh? Whatya drivin’?
Gee, and I was so proud of myself for “Der Spieler.” Laddie, you done put me to shame. “Mt. Rushmoron.” Inspired!
I doubt Wease looks at it as a political issue. He’s pretty much in favor of anything that’s designed to enhance the social life in and around Rochester. He was a big supporter of the Fast Ferry, he wants downtown casinos, he’s usually in favor of sports stadiums, etc…
personally, I don’t think any officials should ever mention the comedian’s name in public - ever. by continuing to respond to him, they play into his hands and keep him relevent.
I assume you’re referring to Rush Limbaugh? I also take it you didn’t read the Politico story from yesterday. This is a targeted strategy that was planned by Emanuel, Begala, and Carville last fall and has been in the works for some time now. They needed a bad guy to play off the President, did some polling, and waited for an opportune moment to use it. His; “I hope the President fails” comment was the trigger.
I have several vehicles. Yesterday it was a GMC Sierra HD 2500 Extended Cab 4 x 4
Who is using whom? It looks to me as if all of these people (White House & Rush) are getting what they want from this.
