In Case You Missed It…
Welcome to The economy is fundamentally Sound edition of, In Case You Missed it…
Those words haunted John McCain as he showed that he simply didn’t get it. Well, turns out, the NRCC doesn’t get it either. How did they put it?
Thanks to Republican economic policies, the U.S. economy is robust and job creation is strong.
Republican tax cuts are creating jobs and continuing to strengthen the economy, yet there is still more to do…
Yeah - good thing things started to change this week. Let’s get started shall we?
The Inauguration
The week was full of anticipation as we waited for Barack Obama’s inauguration- we wondered what everyone was doing. We looked at our bumper stickers that proclaimed President Bush’s last day in office. One way or the other we watched the ceremonies. We were there in person. We gathered together in large groups, or in small house parties and reflected on the day’s activities. We wondered on the impact to Rochester as well as the nation and in the end, we inaugurated Barrack Obama. Here is a reminder of how far we have come.
One thing for sure, we didn’t have to wait long as the wingnuts opened their mouths.
New York State Senate selection.
Well, Hillary moved up to become Secretary of State leaving an open seat here in New York. Governor Paterson had all his options on the table, I suppose, with Caroline Kennedy as the front runner. One thing for sure, the governor knew he was supposed to pick someone and he better not “sell the seat” as alleged in Illinois lest he become the butt of jokes. So, Governor Paterson said that he would appoint someone after the confirmation process for Clinton. Well - Caroline decides to withdraw, except when she doesn’t and finally it is confirmed. Various reports put a touch of ugliness and ineptitude on the whole process. In the end, we have our new Senator - Meet Kirsten Gillibrand our new junior Senator from New York.
Out and about in Greece
The Greece School Board reverses itself and listens. We revisited a story from a year ago where an edited School Board meeting was aired. Mike Barry resigned from the Town board unexpectedly - what is up with that? Greece Residents are fighting a WalMart and took their case to court.
Maggie pimps COMIDA in Greece as well - what did she call it? “most powerful weapon” of the county. Damn Maggie, maybe we need a cease fire.
Race to the Bottom - Spitzer v Bruno
Can’t have a dysfunctional Government without the indictment of a long time government leader. Let me toss this out there - Say what you want about Client 9 and his poor personal choices but have you had a look at Joe Bruno’s indictment? As SBR says Bruno is “…accused of collecting $3.2 million from “consulting clients” who sought to purchase his influence”. One more thing, the indictment comes out on a Friday, a few months after the election. Imagine if it came out earlier.
