More on Elections have Consequences - Employee Free Choice Act

Via an email from the Rochester & Genesee Valley Area Labor Federation

Employee Free Choice Act:

Labor thanks Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, Congressman Dan Maffei and Congressman Eric Massa for their recent co-sponsorship and support of the Employee Free Choice Act. Thank you for standing with 78% of adults who favor this legislation making it easier for workers to bargain with their employers.

After several calls over the past week our staff members have not received return calls from Freshman Congressman Chris Lee’s office. Where are you Congressman, and why are your staff members avoiding our calls?

Co-sponsorship by Slaughter, Maffei and Massa.  Excellent.

Chris Lee?  Not so much.

For those living in the 29th - remember when Randy Kuhl discussed the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) terms of Communism (about 2:13 into the clip)? Recall that Randy once was for the EFCA act until he was against it. That, of course, was back in the day when Randy Kuhl had town hall meetings with constituents.

Yeah, elections do have consquences.

“Thank you for standing with 78% of adults who favor this legislation making it easier for workers to bargain with their employers.” - could you link us to some page somewhere that shows the 78% figure as being accurate?

Sure Elmer. - they cite a survey by Hart Research.

The latest poll commissioned by the AFL-CIO showed that a significant majority of Americans agree with that notion. According to Hart Research Associates, 78 percent of adults favor legislation that “makes it easier for workers to bargain with their employers for better wages, benefits and working conditions.”

In addition, the survey found that 73 percent specifically support the Employee Free Choice Act, which would give workers the ability to join a union through a card-signing campaign.

For “accuracy” questions you have to dive into the survey’s methodology.
