Life in the Majority - advice from Dean Skelos -
Reading a post by Joe Spector I came across this quote from former Majority Leader Dean Skelos.
“I can guarantee you that there are more factions with the Democratic conference than there are within our conference,” he said. “They have a lot to learn about governing. We’ve been doing it for years. They are going to learn that they are going to have to take some very difficult votes. We’ll see how it works out: 32 to 30.”
Yeah, Dean - thanks, thanks for the memories.
Look at what a tightly-controlled conference has gotten us. Fewer diverse voices and opinion. The bit about learning how to govern in the Senate? Well, how exactly has NYS government, in particular, the State Senate been working for the past 40 years?
Especially in recent times? 12 years under a Republican Governor? These budget problems magically happened in the past 2 years? No.
Frankly, minority leader Skelos, given your party’s track record, I’m willing to take my chances.
