Auto Bailout: Sense from Slaughter
Louise Slaughter, on the aid package, via News 10:
Democrat Louise Slaughter, who represents the 28th District in the House, says she voted for the original auto bailout but she blames republicans in the Senate for blocking the auto bailout earlier.
Slaughter says look in any direction and the country is in serious trouble and a nation can’t be a super power without manufacturing.
“I’ve been one of those people who thinks that any industry that employs one in ten persons in the United States is not one, particularly in this time, that we can allow to fail. And I’m also one who believes the automakers have been their own worst enemies. I don’t know what everyone’s definition of the bailout is, but this is an absolute loan. The conditions are if they can present a viable plan by March 31, they have to pay us back immediately which means bankruptcy.”
She puts blame for the holdup on this to the Senate Republicans, who were all “Yay! Union-busting if the big 3 fail!” I’ll give a nod to the Bush administration for helping get this enacted. But I wish the bank bailout had been a loan with teeth as well.
I still go back to my earlier assertion that this bailout should be sponsored by Big Oil, since they were arguably benefitted the most from US automaker’s gas guzzlers.

We spend over 12 billion a MONTH in Iraq, yet for our economy, the loan to the big 3 is controversial? Amazing. Keep American jobs in America and stop buying “Made in China” products (if you can…)
I purchased a switch for my American car yesterday.
This particular switch turns something on and off.
It is activated with my finger.
This is not the first time I have purchased this switch.
This switch costs $78.55
Maybe it’s my fault for using the wrong finger.
