Massa Victory celebration video

Randy Kuhl finally conceded this past Friday and there was a victory party Friday night. RT was there as were a couple of media outlets - RNews had this story and video.

Congressman-elect Eric Massa returned that Friday night from Freshman orientation and shared stories and insight in the speech he gave, as well as addressing the various small groups of people.

I found some private time with Massa and we discussed a couple of things. I asked about his office location, (it is a good location which escapes me at the moment and he is very pleased), the various personalities in D.C., his Energy and Commerce Committee vote (Waxman vs Dingell - he voted for Waxman) and some other things.

He gave a short speech to his supporters and, like he did with his press conference earlier in the day, started by thanking Randy Kuhl for his years of public service.

Now, I split the speech into 2 clips. Both clips - have light-hearted moments balanced within the shadow of history. The history that needs to be made getting America back on track and the history that is part of walking in the Congressional footsteps of others.

In the first clip, he says that freshman orientation was put on hold given the arrival of the Auto Industry CEOs. He went on to say that there will, needs to be, an aggressive agenda in the opening days of the Congress.

Clip 1

In Clip Two - Massa attempts to answer the “how does it feel” question. He, of course, relates it to taking Command. He commits to working for us and says the work days will start early and end late. What was perhaps the most powerful aspect fo the second clip was the bit where he said this was about the stewardship of a high office - not about Eric Massa. All-in-All this has to be a humbling experience.

Anyway here is the second clip - watch it and if you were a Massa supporter what the look on Eric’s face as this clip ends. It is worth it.
