Massa’s Lead Widening - Say Good-bye Randy

There have been smattering of reports all week on the final canvassing of this race. if you are worried - Don’t be. The latest story, via the Jill Terreri of the D&C:

Recanvassing of voting machines in Monroe and Chemung counties gave Massa another 299-vote lead, said Jared Smith, communications director for Massa’s campaign.

Massa, of Corning, Steuben County, is now about 5,700 votes ahead of Kuhl, with fewer than 6,000 absentee ballots remaining to be counted in other counties. The process of counting affidavit and absentee ballots in other counties is expected to begin Monday.

So, a 5,700 vote lead with approximately 6,000 ballots to go.

Do the math.

Let’s hope that Randy concedes sooner rather than later.

Friends,

A lot of people have been asking for an update on the vote counts, so here it is. Yesterday (Friday, November 14th,) the Board of Elections in Monroe County concluded their count of the absentee and affidavit ballots, and our lead grew tremendously. Additionally, the recanvass of Monroe and Chemung Counties also concluded. As of right now, the district-wide recanvass is complete and all that’s left to do is count the remaining absentee/affidavit ballots in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chemung, Ontario, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates counties. Here’s a “by the numbers” run down of where we stand right now:

4,487 - Our lead prior to Friday, 11/14
299 - Votes we gained from the Chemung/Monroe Recanvass
954 - Our lead over Randy Kuhl from the Monroe County absentees and affidavit ballots opened today
11,000 - Total estimated number of absentee/affidavit ballots
5,100 - Approximate number of absentee/affidavit ballots opened in Monroe County
5,900 - Approximate number of remaining absentee/affidavit ballots that have yet to be opened in the other seven counties
5,740 - Our total combined margin of victory
With about 5,900 absentees and affidavits left to be counted and a lead of 5,740, it certainly looks like this election will be concluded shortly. Thank you all for your support and we look forward to being able to celebrate soon.
