The D&C editorial endorsement of Obama

I found this in my drafts folder, so thought I would finally complete it.

On October 26th, the D&C endorsed Obama/Biden over McCain/Palin. Here is a pic of the print page. Notice the column by Community Editorial board member Petrena Hayes on the lower left of the page.

If memory serves, I recall the Editorial board voted nearly unanimously - 9 to 1 - to endorse Obama. Yet, on the same page Petrena gets to write a dissenting opinion.

This raises questions like:

Did every D&C endorsement pass unanimously? If not, why didn’t counter opinions get published so prominently for other races?

I just find this odd.

This has to be about free column inches for the Democrat and Chronicle - maybe op-ed Editor James Lawrence was pressed for time or recognized that Obama was going to win big here anyway and Petrena’s column would not have made a difference.

I see this as yet another example of wishy-washy editorial work by the D&C. Dissenting opinions on a race that simply won’t matter in New York State.

Yet in races that do matter (say the New York State Senate) or are close - no dissent.

Dead Tree Media.

Credentials. As experienced and worthy as Palin was for the VP role.

I wanna see the credentials. The writing gives it all away.
