RT Roundup - 11/5/08

Some nuggets for y’all:

  • The Senate may not be flipped yet. The “Gang of Four” Dem senators from NYC are soliciting bribes meeting with the current GOP leadership. As TAP’s simonstl says humorously:

When the Republicans said that a Democratic majority in the State Senate would put the fate of Upstate in the hands of “New York City lawmakers”, I don’t think this is quite what everyone thought they meant.

  • Also on TAP, Roatti offers truth and consequences to the Gang of Four:

To these four Senators, Ruben Diaz Sr., Pedro Espada Jr., Carl Kruger, Hiram Monserrate, I have message to you from the Netroots community:

If you do not vote for Malcolm Smith for Senate Majoirty Leader, we will expel you from political office in the 2010 Democratic primaries.

Look at your colleague Marty Connor as he packs up his office to leave public life. That will be you in 2 years if dare to stifle the will of the people who elected you.

Remember Nancy Lorraine Hoffman? Remember Olga Mendez? 26 years in the Senate for Olga; she switched to being a Republican and she was voted out by an 81-18% margin. That will be YOU if you make such a foolhardy move.

And Senator Espada- you yourself already lost an election because you supported the GOP. Are you really that much of an idiot to make the same mistake twice?

  • Chant over at DragonflyEye sets the record straight on Acorn, and talks about his 15 minutes of fame on Curt Smith’s show on WXXI.
  • Check out our county clerk’s reaction to relection, from WXXI:

“The determining factor for the race was the overwhelming victory and the voters recognized that when we do a good job, when we are rolling up our sleeves and working with this community and making a positive difference for this community - they recognized that and they worked with me,” DiNolfo says.

So, I’m still trying to parse this. The victory was the key factor in the race? How did the outcome of the race affect the race itself? Isn’t that like saying “I think it’s safe to say that the team that scores the most goals will win.”?? Maybe she just can’t believe she won. BTW, did you catch that “rolling up our sleeves” talking point? Drink!
