Must view: It’s More than Social Security Numbers at the Clerks office

Geez, what is it going to take? btp talked about it over the weekend - here is a refresher. Via the original Rnews report, it’s more than Social Security numbers. Here is a youtube clip:

Story over, right? Some guy finds an error and the Clerk’s office corrects it. Mistakes happen? Somehow that is acceptable?

Imagine if this error wasn’t discovered? Imagine that you are somehow categorized and you didn’t know it. Imagine if someone else does their own on-line research, sees the false entry, and acts upon it.

This is about data integrity. First, the Clerk’s office uploads data to the web that includes Social Security numbers for all to see. Then we discover an “indexing error” where some guy is labeled incorrectly. What else is out there?

“I like to think that I’d pay better attention to the details, make sure there’s checks and balances before the files are uploaded,” Hasman said.

Dinolfo says that’s already happening.

“We have a daily process. As our documents come in, we review those documents to ensure the integrity of those documents each and every day,” said Dinolfo.

So there you have it folks - Hasman says there needs to be more checks and balances, Dinalfo says it is already happening.

What is conveniently missing is that Dinolfo’s method isn’t working. That is why she needs to go.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Remember that Our Miss Cheryl originally stated there were only a “few” Social Security numbers left on the website” only to admit she had found another 17,000. Then when she came out and boasted “there were NO Social Security numbers left on the website”, Hasman found another 4 in a matter of minutes.

She tells us now that every day there is a daily process that ensures the integrity of documents - “each and every day”…and yet each and every day it seems there are more bigger and badder mistakes - not little mistakes - but ones that could ultimately cost someone their job, their pending mortgage approval or their reputation and financial security.

What’s it gonna take to stop this? She needs to go and she’s a public employee - and we’re her ultimate boss. So like any good boss, we need to terminate her services for incompetence. She has failed to live up to the minimum qualifications for the job. Instead she obsesses over how wonderful she is, when the truth is she’s actually quite bad.

Time to go Cheryl. You’ve overspent your stay at the candy shop. Empty your pockets and find the door.

Let’s take the clerks job back to where it belongs. Actual employment with expectation and job performance. There’s more to the clerk’s job than just “looking” good…you actually have to BE good. Let’s take the politics out and put the security of the documents and processes to the forefront of the clerk’s office. When patronage and incompetence costs the security and/or identity of even ONE of it’s citizens, it has failed.

Cheryl Dinolfo is a failure. Maybe MonroeDem is right - maybe having the republicans control that office means they control that process as well. I guess we won’t know unless someone like Hasman gets in and does a complete audit of the records to find out where else we were being hosed. One thing about wolves guarding henhouses…when you find enough broken and missing eggs, you know there’s more going on than just the guarding…

Good grief. Is this woman capable of getting anything right? Her incompetence is astounding. Under her watch, there have been Social Security numbers posted online, politically charged blogging on the taxpayer dime, a massive system crash that shut down vital county business for days, and now this. Improper indexing that led to a retired police officer to be labeled as a criminal?

I have to wonder why she even wants the job. County Clerk is a serious and important job and she’s so cavalier about it. I suppose that she thinks mobile DMVs and passport outreach is enough!

Cheryl only cares about dinner parties with Republican bigwigs. She could care less if police officers are labeled criminals or our Social Security numbers get stolen. Tom has the technological knowledge to deal with the threats of today and challenges of tomorrow

The problem with the term “county clerk” is most people I dont think consider the magnitude of the job. ie terms, “clerk .vs. teacher” or “clerk .vs. CEO”. In other words they do not see the position title to be significant.

The county clerk is the most important LOCAL race going. It directly impacts each and every one of us. The county clerks position in this community has been owned by the republicans for many years. Long before I came to rochester in fact. Maggie Brooks was clerk.

I’ve only been in town a few years but ask yourself, is your community BETTER under the Republican rule it has had and then vote accordingly across the board. My neighbors have told me that Rochester used to be a boom town not that long ago, good jobs, good housing costs, reasonable cost of living and more. One perhaps said it best… She said, “Rochester has not felt as much of the hurt as many other areas of the country and state even with Kodak’s slow demise, now the infection has come here and we all feel it”. Meanwhile the republicans promise and promise and have yet to deliver.

The clerk position is the “Atlanta International Airport” of our county. It is the hub of information and much much more. We need a true professional in this position end of story. Clearly Dinolfo is not. For example if you view the “Comacho” video she CLEARLY looks agitated to even have to respond to the issue just as she has with the Social Security numbers.

First it was a few hundred numbers, then thousands… I read online that over 17,000 numbers were redacted. 17,000!!!!!

When offered help, she refuses. When the database should have just been taken down which would be standard business protocol I am told, nope she refuses.

I’d read she also defied the NY Governor on licensing for illegals in the country. Read all about it. Licensing illegals means 1. They would also need attain insurance so if you happen to get hit by one, they actually would be insured. 2. Its a step closer to naturalization .vs. not. Do people think that illegal immigrants in this country dont drive now? 3. It means records also exist of who they are, where they are.

Instead the clerk grandstanded. I doubt she made that decision it came from above. But point being its her JOB to OBEY the State Government. Period. She defied that Government and she defied us in fact.

    ————————————————–

Lets look at this from a different angle. If you went door to door in the county or for that matter, anyplace in America. You knocked on doors and said, “Hi! Have you heard of identity theft?” and if not explain it to them.

Ask virtually ANYONE politics and party aside, “In our community the Clerks office has thousands of social security records online for public access. What do you think they should do?”

I think you’d be hard pressed to find anyone, republican, democrat or inbetween that would say, “Well leave em’ online and fix em’ up”. I’d bet just about everyone and anyone would say, “Take the database down until its fixed and its 100% sure its fixed”.

Dinolfo thus not only displayed incompetence but in reality a true display of not knowing WRONG from RIGHT or DEFYING our TRUST in her office. There simply is no other excuse inbetween and the people need understand THAT.

This is not “her personal storehouse of information”. It is OUR information and she is charged with its security, safety and organization. She CLEARLY displayed that is NOT her concern. Her concern is that HER position and HER office appear ABOVE and OWN the public interest.

    Thats extremely dangerous.

If the above was NOT the case she’d have come out like you, or I, or pretty much anyone “on a job” would and say, “Hey… we have a problem and we apologize for this problem. We are acting accordingly and removing all of this information online until such a point as we have cleaned it up and can be sure its 100% safe. Again, we apologize for the matter and it will be corrected soonest possible”.

    Thats not what happened.

One must ask oneself if she can act this way with such a problem, minimize the importance, display incompetence and/or defiance of simple Right vs. wrong what OTHER items have defied or been done in defiance of PUBLIC TRUST? What records exist of dirty deals and more?

Once TRUST is broken and she has clearly broken the community trust, only a moron would think otherwise in review of these recent matters how can we TRUST that other matters do not exist and the scope of those matters?

Then when we look at why there is well in excess of $100,000 given to Dinolfo’s campaign that further raises questions. Thats an unprecedented amount of money for such a race. Then we ask why $95,000+ of that money given to her race came from the Republican party… Not from you, not from me, not from republicans who live on your street. $95,000 from the republican party.

As they say, “Where there is smoke there is fire” and that is EXACTLY what we have here.

Hasman has the skill set to make sure the County steps into the future in the right way as far as the technology goes. Again, SRA international his employer is THE security company to the Federal Government and much more. Dont take my word for it, http://www.sra.com/

HE is EXACTLY what we need. Not only to clean up things and get the clerks office RIGHT but also to see what and how the clerks office has been used to defy the public trust as well as how it may have been used improperly.

Anyone, republican or democrat who would think otherwise is simply viewing things by party politic blinders.

Party politic blinders on BOTH sides of the political fence have resulted in a great number of the problems we as a people now face.
