Kryzan won’t be on WFP line
As you may recall, there was talk a few weeks ago of replacing Jon Powers with Alice Kryzan as the nominee for the Working Families Party. It now appears that that will not happen.
From The Buffalo News:
A judge ruled today that Jon Powers must remain on the ballot as the candidate of the Working Families Party in next week’s 26th District congressional election, dealing a major blow to Democrat Alice J. Kryzan’s hope of securing an additional line.
Acting State Supreme Court Justice Kimberly A. O’Connor in Albany ruled that Working Families’ attempt to substitute Kryzan for Powers after Powers moved out of state to Washington did not meet election law requirements.

This isn’t as big of a problem as the fact she is getting pummeled by the negative ads from the opposition and the NRCC. I’ve donated to the Kryzan campaign, but I fear she is going to get steamrolled unless she has something else to bring forward in the remaining week.
Kryzan’s primary ad pitting her Democratic opponents against each other was brilliant because it likely attracted a whole mess of women voters. I just don’t see the rural and suburban males being swayed by this ad. It hasn’t worked when Jack Davis tried it (albeit while he sleepwalked his way through), and I don’t see it working here either.
There is an inherent stumbling block among a lot of more conservative-leaning voters in this district towards Democrats in general. I have male relatives that won’t vote for Democrats “just because.” Their friends, neighbors and colleagues move in lockstep with Republicans and so do they.
BUT, women voters are another story. Kryzan needs to reach out more strongly to women voters in this district. Her “boys will be boys” primary ad was great stuff and no doubt helped her considerably. She needs an ad appealing to women swing voters in this district which could strengthen her chances in this GOP leaning district. It’s much easier to get the right people into an open seat than to try and pry them out once they get there.
