Hasman responds to the D&C

While I’m at it - Tom Hasman repsonded to the D&C’s lack of endorsement as well.

I am running for Monroe County clerk because we need a professional in this critical office. With my background in computer security and records management with the National Security Council, I understand the importance of protecting your personal data in a world where business is conducted online.

My opponent left more than 17,000 Social Security numbers on the county’s Web site for more than a year, exposing citizens’ private information to cyberthieves. Moreover, her assistant clerk/campaign aide engaged in political activity on the taxpayer dime. This is unacceptable.

Yep - Competence. Professionalism. Non-political. Then Hasman goes on and describes what he will do in additional to protecting our private data..

I will expand the use of online services to reduce wait times in the clerk’s office and at the DMV.

I will also save taxpayers’ money by eliminating duplicative services. For example, the clerk competes with the post offices in the suburbs by offering passports. The revenue per passport is less than the cost of providing the service. The clerk is wasting our money trying to compete with the post offices.

Of course you could simply watch this video and see Hasman tell you his vision of the clerks office.

Look, Cheryl Dinolfo is a loyal GOP soldier forged from the days of Doyle, sharpened under Minarik and now in a position to do what is best for her party - party over people. As I have said earlier when I wrote the D&C County Clerk endorsement.

[Cheryl Dinolfo] has people who work for her on her Campaign staff. One of them was doing political work instead of the people’s work.

[snip]

…the cost of doing business with the clerks office? Privacy.

We have millions of documents that potentially have a social security number on them on line. This known about for over a year and nothing done. Unsurprisingly, the D&C pulled its punches. - yet again brought up this year and Ms Dinolfo turned a press conference into yet another grandstanding event - show you that she is more concerned with herself than privacy.

Yeah, the D&C missed the boat here as well.

I was just watching RNews and they just broadcast a story about a couple (a retired Rochester Police Investigator who was also a Viet Nam vet) who went on the Clerk’s website, and found a CRIMINAL judgement entered on his record in ERROR!

They interviewed CHERYL who said something to the effect like “Oh well, mistakes happen”….GADS!

So it’s NOT just your social security number you have to worry about - it’s now other people’s criminal judgements being attached to your record!

OUR MISS CHERYL’S TIME IS UP!

Monroe Website Wrongly Labels Cop A Criminal - by Leah George - Published Oct 24, 2008
Have you ever logged on to the web and searched your name? A local couple thinks you should, just in case. Ed and Shelley Camacho are renovating their house. Before hiring contractors they checked the Monroe County Clerk’s website to make sure the people they hired were legitimate. Then they typed in their own names on the site. “I said, `You know you’re listed here with a criminal index number.’ He was listed as a criminal,” Shelley Camacho said.
