SD-56: BREAKING: The Hate Comes Home
You’ve probably heard the news reports about McCain supporters trashing cars, slashing tires, spitting in faces of Obama supporters. This is the face of desperation, and it’s ugly. Apparently, the same hate that GOPers McCain, Palin, Michele Bachmann, and Robin Hayes are stirring up, is coming to a state senate race near you, based on this from the Dollinger campaign:
Monday afternoon of this week the Dollinger campaign received several egregious reports of voter intimidation. An extremely upset elderly supporter on Ledgewood Drive reported that her sign was torn to shreds and strewn about the street. Also, on Chesterton Street a police report had to be filed because a families’ Dollinger sign was vandalized with razor blades in what may be a Class A criminal mischief misdemeanor that could be punishable by imprisonment of up to one year. On Tuesday, similar reports continued. While some instances are bound to happen, supporters should never be concerned about their own safety because of whom they choose to support in an election. This also appears to be a concerted and on-going intimidation effort.
Dollinger is following the lead of the Obama campaign and organizing lawyers to fight the intimidation:
In an effort to raise community awareness of dirty tricks the Dollinger campaign is taking every precautionary measure possible to ensure that the voters of this community know their rights, know what to look out for, and where to turn for help. We have organized attorneys throughout the district and are launching a voters’ rights awareness campaign.
That it’s come to this is really sad. I expected more of Robach and his supporters.

Way to go Joe…
…the elderly? You can do better than that, can’t you?
This is Joe’s base
It’s nastier than you think here. Joe is acting very childish. Out here on the westside the republicans feel they are entitled to their seats and will attack anyone who stands up to them. Several people I know have been called traitors by Robach and his friends for supporting Rick. Legitimate criticism of Joe is seen as “negative” and dirty. One guy said you shouldn’t criticize Joe in campaigns and be “positive” (think about the source here)
Caterino the public access guy here told me he was accosted personally by Joe and grilled by several of his supporters because he ran free time (open to all candidates) video of candidates. Apparently everything Rick Dollinger says is a lie and therefore doesn’t deserve to be heard !! Nor apparently do any democrats. Opposing views are not tolerated.
I also caught a tape of Robach’s appearance with Dollinger and Reilich at an education forum on access the other night. Joe did not put on good show He was quote tempermenntal and all about smearing Dollinger with accusations. No substance on the issues. We are to vote for him because he is “our guy”
What you have to get clear is that there is no free speech on the west side no fair and open political processes.
[...] signs are disappearing. This post highlights some nastiness in the SD-56th. There is simply no place - on either side - for this [...]
