NY-26 - BREAKING: Powers Endorses Kryzan
From a press release just…um…released:
Over the last 18 months, together, we have worked to call attention to the many challenges Western New Yorkers face. I listened to families struggling because of our weakened economy, soldiers fighting in a war without the necessary equipment and returning without health care they have earned — there is no question that our country is hurting because of Washington’s failed leadership. With just 18 days until Election Day, I write to urge you to vote for change. We have a chance to elect a new Member of Congress to represent the working men and women of Western New York and I hope you will join me in supporting Alice Kryzan for Congress.
There’s more in the email but it’s nicely and strongly worded.

Good to see this - finally closure.
Better late than never.
Closure is in November.
I can have faith in Jon again. Chris Lee’s China first agenda must be stopped at all costs
Good for you Mr. Powers. So glad he’s decided to put his own motivations aside and back the party.
Silly me, I thought Jon Powers was supporting himself with his military pension.

I honestly ask the same question as Howard Owens - is this commonplace for a candidate? Or, was this campaign actually more of a “what’s in it for me” for Mr. Powers, especially considering how he up and left after losing in the primaries? I have to believe he had a plan B ready to use if needed.
I believe that this is common place, unless the candidate is an incumbent, but I will look into it more. There have to be examples out there. (”I’ll find some and bring em to ya”)
It’s allowed and is commonplace if the candidate is a challenger and not independently wealthy. You can’t hold down a job and run for an office of that magnitude effectively.
As long as it’s a reasonable amount of money, I don’t have a problem with a candidate I donate to using some to pay the mortgage and keep the lights on. It helps create an atmosphere where you don’t have to be a millionaire to run for office.
