More nonsense from McCain - A crack in Plumber Joe’s story

Remind all your friends around the water cooler/coffee pot.

NEW YORK – John McCain hung his final presidential debate performance on an Ohio plumber who campaign aides never vetted.

A day after making Joseph Wurzelbacher famous, referencing him in the debate almost two dozen times as someone who would pay higher taxes under Barack Obama, McCain learned the fine print Thursday on the plumber’s not-so-tidy personal story: He owes back taxes. He is not a licensed plumber. And it turns out that Wurzelbacher makes less than $250,000 a year, which means he would receive a tax cut if Obama were elected president.

Yet again towards McCain’s character specifically shooting from the hip and missing …Badly

I saw an interview with Joe. He seems to be leaning McCain because although he doesn’t make $250,000 now, he “hopes to someday”.

The nexus of the story isn’t Joe the plumber, anyone could have asked that question. The nexus is Obama’s response advocating socialism and spreading the wealth around.

“It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance at success, too… I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”—

The liberal media bias is trying to make Joe the focus.

Which flavor are you drinking Mike? Cherry or Grape?

McCain brought up Joe the Plumber - repeatedly. Obama has said if you make less than 250K (probably after deductions) your taxes are not impacted.

McCain’s Joe the Plumber reference is is nothing more than a desperate reach from a desperate man.

    Mike,

You may want to reasearch the story a bit more. Today it was revealed no one recorded Obama’s answer.

The credibility of the “answer” is baseless, kind of like the whole Joe story, who isn’t a plumber and whose real name isn’t even Joe. It turns out its Dan. In addition, I’m sure you heard McCain refer to him by yet a different last name during the debate.

But I guess McCain believes as Gobbels did, repeat a story often enough and hope people will believe its true.

You can watch the video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwtnPi7hi0U. Obama is anti-freedom. Freedom allows for humane, voluntary help for others, not misguided government redistribution of wealth schemes.

    Mike,

Yes, from this we can clearly see that Obama is an anti-freedom socialist proposing a forced redistribution of wealth scheme.

    How did we miss that?

Thanks for putting that into context. For a second there it seemed as if Obama was talking about a progressive tax system, like the one we used to have for decades.

Now I see that indeed it’s really a plot to steal our freedom. Yes, you’re right, a progresive tax rate steals our freedom. I know if I was making over a quarter of a milllion dollars a year, like most plumbers, I would feel like my freedom had been stolen.

Mike, thank you for your ’special’ insight that Obama hates freedom.

    That makes perfect sense.

    Publius,
We have an very overly progressive tax system now. People earning virtually nothing, and paying little or no taxes, recieve refunds and the top bracket pays 35%. The tax system is already loaded with redistribution of wealth tools like the earned income credit.

You gotta love that name, people who don’t make much money get an “earned” income credit. We need a truth-in-labeling law for government programs and regulations.

    Publius,

    lol.

Mike apparently hasn’t a clue what a progressive tax system is about and certainly isn’t aware that we have an intentionaslly regressive system.
Perhaps he believes there are actually a lot of plumblers making $250,000+ a year.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.

Unfortunately, there are many people like Mike who are simply clueless about our regressive tax system that was implemented by Reagan, and the consequences of that Hooverian system that have come home to roost.

Remember, this is serious. Mike believes that Obama hates freedom. Mike believes he knows how prevelent that is among black males, they all seem to just hate freedom. Mike believes Obama is a socialist. Mike believes Obama hates America.

He really believes this, he’s not kidding.

Mike also believes “Joe the plumber” is a real plumber making over $250,000 a year and not some goof whose real name is Dan making $42,000.

    Mike really believes these things.

But there is help, with professional intervention, the proper therapeutical mixture of facts and education, and strong support from friends and family, they can be cured of their delusions.

He would be doing himself a favor to read David Cay Johnston’s “Free Lunch” and get acquainted with those pesky facts that get in the way of his assumptions.

I guess your progressive response is to reply to facts with total fabrications. I was hoping for a meaningful dialogue rooted in some critical thinking skills. I’ll have to look elsewhere. You guys can continue to preach to your choir, I’m sure they will lap up your progressive drivel. Just about every assertion you have made about what I believe is false, except for Obama advocating socialism. I really don’t care if Joe the Plumber makes $250 or $250,000 per year. I do care about Obama’s response. Joe is not running for President, Obama is.

BTW, while you are all busy making your assumptions about what I believe, I don’t recall making statements supporting McCain. The sad truth lies in the fact that most voters have been coerced and fooled into thinking they have only two choices in the election.

While I am thinking of it, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and John Jay would be terribly disturbed at your use of the pen name “Publius” in your effort to destroy the inalienable rights that all people deserve.

Yours is the politics of fear and decisiveness.

Obama is “anti-freedom” and a “socialist”, these are words of right-wing extremist fear mongering and hate. You say you want critical thinking and yet start out with incendiary and ignorant statements. These words of yours are products of a philosophy that can only survive on fear.

    In 1980.

Before that we had persident’s who rationed gas when we were at war, and spoke out about the military-industrial complex, and asked us to thionk about what we could do for our country. Then we had a president who warned us that if we didn’t seek energy indepence it would come to haunt us.

But in 1980 Ronal Reagan told us the only question worth answering was, “How am I doing?”
