Endorsements: Where is Major Duffy on a Democratic State Senate Majority?

I find it unsurprising that our Democratic Senators would endorse Democratic State Senate candidates or that a women’s group would support a candidate who supports right’s for women.  GLBT?   No Kidding.

But what about the Democratic Mayor of the major city in a State Senate district currently held by someone of the opposition party? Specifically, where is Mayor Duffy in the mix?

Via Joe Spector of Gannett.    Let’s recall the history

But there’s history here: Duffy stayed out of the 2006 race and didn’t endorse either Robach or Democratic candidate Willa Powell. Toward the end of the race, Robach put out a mailing that showed Duffy and Robach together, drawing the ire of Powell but not the protest of Duffy.

In 2004, then-Mayor Bill Johnson and other prominent Democrats crossed party lines and backed Robach instead of Democratic candidate Bob Ertischek, angering some Democratic loyalists.

I remember the mailers and the frustration filtered down to my level.

The Democratic mayor, Democrats say, has been reluctant to get behind Dollinger because he has a good relationship with Republican Sen. Joseph Robach, who Duffy has lauded in recent years for helping to get additional state aid for the city.

I’m guessing Mayor Duffy will play it safe.  Hope not.  The great relationship?  Did Robach help with PAETEC HQ or was he an after thought?

There is too much at stake here with regards to the overall State Senate to sit on the sidelines.  Heck even Governor Paterson made an endorsement.

So how about it Mayor Duffy?  Where are you in the mix?

Mayor Duffy should not be playing footsie with Joe. He needs to endorse Dollinger immediately

I would tend to agree.

Previously, the Senate wasn’t going to flip so the question is whether or not Mayor Duffy supports a Democratic State Senate or whether he supports the status quo.

Dollinger stands to represent a hefty portion of the city and Mayor Duffy should step up to the plate. However, after living in Rochester for two years, one of the things that disappointments me the most about politics around here (indeed, probably everywhere) is that people are more concerned with consolidating their power, protecting their fiefdoms, and hedging their bets.

I do not expect to see an endorsement from the mayor because he probably thinks that Robach will win. I have no insight into Duffy’s thinking, it’s just a guess on my part.

I think the politicians and groups that give out endorsements are more concerned with who they think will win, rather than standing up for something and making a point. They will complain about the status quo, then endorse it time and time again.

Robach wouldn’t help Duffy if the roles were reversed. I’m sick of faux mavericks and their stockholm syndrome

with this kind of monkey business, it is hard to see how the democrats can exploit their advantage and govern locally. I’m not a fan of Duffy and I can’t see much he is doing.

Mayor Duffy is far too interested in being a nice guy. Maybe when he figures out that Maggie Brooks back stabs him every chance she gets he’ll stop sending her birthday gifts.

Maybe when he figures out that Joe Robot bad mouths him every chance he gets when he’s out of the mayor’s earshot in Greece he’ll finally endorse a Democrat that’s truly on his side.

Bob!

Bob!

Wake up bro, these two are grooming local republicans to run against you!

Do you think they are your friends?

Do you think when you lose to a republican Maggie and Joe will get you a job with the Water Authority?

Don’t think it can happen?
