Yet another poll with Massa in the lead, again by 7% over Kuhl
If I’m Randy Kuhl, I’m getting really nervous right now. The third poll of the race this week was released today and it again shows Democratic challenger Eric Massa ahead outside of the margin of error.
This poll was done by Research 2000, on behalf of DailyKos. Here are the numbers:
- 33-44, voters have an unfavorable opinion of Randy Kuhl. That’s right, according to this poll, only a third of his constituents have a favorable opinion of Kuhl.
- 45-27, voters in the 29th congressional district of New York have a favorable opinion of Eric Massa.
- If the election was held today, 49% say they would vote for Massa and 42% say they would vote for Kuhl.
- The 29th is the strongest Republican district in New York, and yet Obama leads McCain by a slight 48-45. Keep in mind that Bush beat Kerry in 2004 in the 29th district by 14 points (56-42).
On Monday, SurveyUSA showed Massa leading by 7% (51-44) and the Beneson Strategy Group poll (for the DCCC) had Massa beating Kuhl by 5% (47-42).
But a 5 to 7% lead is hardly enough to bank on until election day. We still have to work hard for Massa to make sure he seals the deal, but it looks like the second time is the charm.

three polls. massa does lead this thing. d-trip has been MIA and the NRCC ain’t got the money to make much difference. a modest investment by the DCCC could seal the deal and end this one.
What the hell are they waiting for?
This reported “lead,” which is suspect, will never hold up. Thanks for your blog which I really enjoy reading.
