Sandy Parker on WXXI’s 1370 Connection
Sandy Parker was the guest on Bob Smith’s 1370 Connection Show, talking about the property tax commission recommendations. A caller called in and asked some really good questions. It went a little like this:
The caller asked her who was on her executive board and whether the Business Alliance had done a study of how many jobs those CEO’s on the board had sent overseas. She replied by avoiding the question and saying they have lots of members. Smith potted the caller down so that he couldn’t pin her down on her exec council.
The caller then reminded her that while the commission had recommended the cap they had also recommended the circuit breaker which would benefit those of us in the bottom 95% who didn’t see our incomes double and he asked Bob Smith if he had seen his income double. The caller finished by saying we could afford to keep the income tax surcharge on those folks in the top 5% to finance the circuit breaker.
Imagine how the progressive message could get out if more of us could call in and ask these kinds of questions. Why is the wealthy establishment and incumbents like Jim Alesi pushing the tax cap when the commission also recommended the “circuit breaker” solution? It smells like they’re trying to ultimately protect wealthy donors.

[...] How about we put together a poll about Alesi– one that uses actual facts? I’ll start: Would you feel comfortable with a candidate who pushes a tax cap, that takes money away from schools and families but gives more to the wealthy, instead of the fairer tax “circuit-breaker“, even though the Property Tax Commission recently endorsed both?
