A minimal reflection on the John McCain moment

The stars are aligned. A change must come.

Boy, am I relieved! I just learned this from watching the John McCain Republican video.

“134 men died that day. Somehow John McCain was spared. Perhaps it is because he had other things to do.”

Feeling all warm and fuzzy now. I’m sure everything will be alright.

Try a google search for Obama/Biden bumper stickers and lawn signs and see how many mention party affiliation. I gave up half way through page two - zero results. I have to believe name recognition is far more important than party affiliation when you’re paying a “by the letter” per unit price.

Oops - I take that back. I looked through a few more. What party is the “Democratic Stuff” party? It is an awful small mention, maybe the company just is trying to hype their product by piggybacking Senator Obama.

What??? So people who just got hold of a “Obama/Biden” sign for their yard didn’t put one up mentioning they’re Democrats because of a town ordinance? So, by your reasoning, they’re going to take the first sign down and put up another later with “Democrat Party” boldly displayed somewhere on it just prior to the actual election?

Try doing a google search on Obama/Biden, either with yard signs or bumper stickers as part of the search criteria. I did and found 95% of them on the first three pages (I stopped after that) make no mention of their party affiliation. How about the common sense answer to your musings is that since any of this stuff has a per letter pricing structure the people buying them are far more concerned about name recognition than party affiliation. Ya know, marketing brand recognition and that sort of thing.

The Us magazine cover story and the DU postings are a stark contrast to that. So far, everyone here seems to skim over that without a second thought. Both the publication’s owner and the website mentioned lean Progressive hard.

As a correlation, last spring John and Elizabeth Edwards were “courageous” to move forward with his Presidential bid despite her recurrence of cancer. On the other hand, Sarah Palin is a bad mother for not putting her family first and declining the VP nomination. More nuance I guess.

the difference is that Barbie is running for the vice-presidency. A heart beat away from the big desk with the red phone, and these are policy issues.

To compare a woman getting breast cancer with getting pregnant is simply over the top. If you can’t understand the difference ask your wife/girlfriend/mother/the girl next door which she would rather have, a pregnancy or breast cancer.

This matters because Barbie wouldn’t allow comprehensive sex-ed in Alaska’s schools based upon a personal religious belief, despite the fact that sex-ed programs are known to reduce teen pregnancies.

This doesn’t make her “real”, it makes her daughter another sad statistic of failed religious right wing extremist polices.

I couldn’t care less about US magazine or nitwit bloggers at DU, I care about religious zealots and hypocrites running the country, and no one here said anything about Barbie being a bad mom,

It’s her phoniness, her daughter gets to make her own medical decisions, but if she gets to be the big cheese she’s promising see to it the government gets to make yours.

We don’t need government in the examining room telling us what our medical options are.

That’s not Goldwater conservatism, that’s the mark of religious extremism in the republican party.
