What’s Goin’ On - RT Roundup, 9/3/2008 Edition
Here’s what I’ve been checking out:
- Changing Parma implores the Jon Powers campaign to have some kind of response to the charges the Jack Davis campaign has been levying. And they’re right– GOP opponent Christopher Lee may well be using those same talking points against Powers in the general.
- Alice Kryzan has an ad on TV portraying Powers and Davis as a couple of guys brawling. Anyone see it? Thoughts?
- The Moderate Urban Champ is boycotting the D&C’s website, calling it the “online chapter of the Rochester hate club.” Heh. He also hipped me to a new local sustainable development site.
- Dunno if we covered it here yet, but Fighting 29th has good news from, well, the 29th:
The convention and Palin announcement have overshadowed the most important story of the month in the 29th. With a little more than two months left in the race, Eric Massa is out-raising and out-spending Randy Kuhl.
- RIT is installing an “eco-swale” to better handle storm water drainage. Here’s a pic:
- This is cool– go to ObamaTaxCut.com to check out what your tax cut would look like if Obama implemented his tax reform plan. Mine was close to $3000. Try selecting “$500,000 +” for your salary and see what kind of tax cut you get.
- Man, when we finally get access to iMovie or something similar, the clips I’d love to make. Here’s someone who did a cover of “Rich Girl” by Hall & Oates, about Jack Davis:
- The D&C has a cool article about an East Rochester couple who purchased a used GEM car. It’s fully electric, and “a glorified golf cart” that initially had their friends making fun of them, but it works great for zipping them around ER. I feel like I’m looking at the future of local transportation around here. Here’s a pic:

I hope they have better luck with theirs than the State Parks System had with the 100’s they bought for patron use a couple of years ago. Within a year of purchase, most were relegated to public auction and/or scrap. I know of at least three that caught fire, while people were driving them. Maybe that bug has since been worked out.
Hey, that isn’t Dave Bonnachi driving is it?
No, that would be a golf cart, since that’s what his “real” full time job always has been, and always WILL BE.
