Kuhl and Boehner - The Republican Energy Plan is simply to make stuff up

John Boehner came to Rochester with Randy Kuhl to discuss the Republican energy plan. Jeremy Moule of City News was there as was Evan Dawson of Channel 13. Evan Dawson has the interview transcript. It is a rich interview and very telling. it was made more difficult because it had to be transcribed due to audio issues (thanks Evan). Anyway it is rich. Check out this exchange

Jeremy Moule: There’s an argument out there that drilling in the U.S. — releasing more oil — is not really going to affect prices all that much since it’s basically a global market anyway. Considering that, do you really see any impact on gas prices?

Rep. Kuhl: Well, I do, for a variety of reasons, and maybe John wants to give you a conference perspective.

Rep. Boehner: Listen, there is a world energy market, and there is a world oil market. And the biggest problem that we have today is that countries like India and China, who were not players in the world oil market ten years ago, today are big players. And so there’s no additional capacity in the world today to produce more oil and gas. And if we open up areas inthe United States, we can increase a worldwide capacity, which will, in fact, bring us more supply and bring down the price. It’s straight Economics 101.

Read it aloud. You will discover that Randy Kuhl can’t answer the question himself. He defers to John Boehner who basically says if the US produces more oil we can sell it abroad to reduce prices it the U.S.
Then there was this question

Evan Dawson: Do you dispute the assessment that it could take up to a decade to get anything out of –

Rep. Boehner: We’ve talked to experts across the country, and we can be producing more oil and gas in less than a year. …

[snip]

With good follow-up

Evan Dawson: You think we can get access within about a year or so. Are you talking about places like ANWR? Are you speaking about offshore? Which areas are you talking about?

Rep. Boehner: Almost any of those areas are ready to go. The offshore outer continental shelf area. The coastal plain of Alaska. Even the Mountain west where the oil shale is located — a lot of that can be up and producing oil in a big hurry.

So within a year we can produce oil. Produce oil drilling new lands. Might want to check with the U.S. government or read this on how domestic oil exported with no relief at the pump. Same with Natural Gas (increased supply)

Did they just get back from Fantasy Island? If so which one is Mr Roarke and which is Tattoo? Does it matter?

Randy Kuhl = Status Quo

Why would we sell it abroad? Isn’t the plan to make it cheaper by producing locally? These Republicans are totally FUITH !
Thank you for posting this. Problem, of course, is that the people who need to see this are not regular readers. I’m glad Evan has it up in transcript form, Did the D&C cover it?
