The razor’s edge
Amo Houghton says Randy Kuhl lives on it because he’s a moderate:
“The problem with Randy is that he’s a moderate,” Amo said, acknowledging that Democrats are pouring cash and resources into this race in an effort to send Eric Massa to Washington. “When you’re a moderate, you live on the razor’s edge in politics. I know that well. You come to expect that.”
Not sure that’s what the authors of the Katha Upanishad had in mind. Anyhoo… an intrepid reporter checks the facts:
According to The Washington Post, Mr. Kuhl has voted with his party 87.3% of the time. The average Republican votes with his or her party 85.9% of the time…
With moderates like these….
It’s no secret that Amo Houghton is not a big fan of Randy Kuhl’s. This can probably be chalked up to an unenthusiastic (but influential) supporter trying to come up with something good to say.

What do you folks think of Massa’s commercial, declaring him an independent, and highlighting his military history? Is that strategy more likely to improve his chances than saying he’s a Democrat, and espousing Democratic principles?
I don’t know. It’s hard for me to get a feel for what plays in the southern part of the district since it’s so different from Monroe County.
he should call himself the original maverick. although technically i think only tom cruise should be claiming that…
With that ’stache, I’m thinking more of Goose.
And what’s more, James Garner was the real original maverick.
