Is the Gravy Train over? Paterson cuts $6.4 million dollars to Rochester
City News, of course, is all over it.
The City of Rochester is losing at least 6.4 million in state aid that had been anticipated this year, Mayor Bob Duffy has just announced.
[snip]
The money that Paterson cut comes from the state’s Aid Incentives for Municipalities allocation.
So somewhere there is a list of these things right? Because this sentence scares me:
At a press conference at City Hall this afternoon, Duffy said he’s confident that state money for the demolition of Midtown Plaza - which does not come from AIM funds - is still intact? (Rnews reports later that Midtown funding is indeed intact).
Confident? Like we don’t know if the Midtown money is intact? Isn’t there a list? What about other monies?
But RenSquare also wants to be in line for State monies as well. Said Duffy
During the press conference, he said repeatedly that this is not the time to ask for more money from the state. Renaissance Square officials have said they’ll seek state funds to help close the $55 million gap that the project faces. Asked about that possibility at the press conference, Duffy said: “I would tell them to save that gas, stay home, and not ask.”
“My sense is that it’s not gonna happen,” he said.
Earmarks, people. the Law School. There is $2 million dollars right now. Do we need a Law School this year or next year? Postpone it if it is so important.
Remember this ‘graf from a post I wrote a while back?
Has anyone looked at State earmarks? Follow that link to see earmarks that came into Monroe County. Remember the Law School at St John Fisher? $2 million dollars for a study to see if we need a law school when legal experts say we don’t?
Stay tuned
