Progressive media (continued)
Yesterday, we wrote about the fact that some of the most successful progressive media sites — like HuffPost and TalkingPointsMemo — focused largely on news and fact-based reporting (as opposed to opinion and analysis).
We’ll get a very good view of how the progressive blogger model of news coverage stacks up against traditional media over the rest of the day. The Office of Professional Responsibility and Inspector General just released its report on politicization of the Department of Justice. TPM has been all over this story and is the first out of the gates with its coverage of the report. The report is long and requires a lot of digging. It will be interesting to see how TPM’s coverage compares to what we see in the mainstream media. I’ll be monitoring their site all day, along with the sites of the Washington Post, New York Times, MSNBC, CBS news, and ABC news (I’m leaving out CNN because there might be a bear cub rescue underway that dominates their headlines).

I skipped to the conclusion of the report. It says that Goodling and Sampson violated federal law. But no recommendation to prosecute - just that those violations should be taken into account if Goodling or Sampson re-apply for jobs in the DOJ.
I thought the DOJ prosecuted violations of federal law. I guess not.
Yeah, I was wondering about that too.
The Washington Post is doing a great job with their coverage today, maybe even better than TPM. Everyone else is ignoring it.
