What he said:

I believe rising gasoline prices have never been about supply and demand. It’s always been about gaining access to the pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska and offshore drilling areas. And don’t you know that with the approaching elections, President Bush lifts the executive order banning offshore oil exploration, and puts the onus on the Congress to follow suit in lifting the ban. This is a thinly veiled political ploy to deflect attention from his administration’s lack of a national energy policy. Future energy demand is not a new phenomenon, and the fact we are suffering higher prices at the pump highlights the lack of planning by our government for this inevitability. Drilling is not the answer; alternate energy sources are. We must develop wind and solar technologies and advance alternate power sources (battery, hydrogen, propane/natural gas) for our vehicles. President Bush has had eight years and has done nothing. We now suffer the consequences. Write your representatives. Make them accountable!
